Introduction to the Main Components of Electric Bike
Electric bike is a popular commute, travel, and exercise tool. Knowing the components of electric bikes for adults helps you find an electric mountain bike that suits your requirements.
This blog presents information about the main components of an electric bike, like the battery, motor, PAS sensor, throttle, controller, display and brakes.
- Battery
The battery provides energy for the motor of your 1000w electric mountain bike.
When shopping for an e-bike, look at the voltage, and amp-hours of the battery, as they determine how long you can ride each full charge.
Generally, the battery is installed in the center or lower position of the 1000w electric bike, so don't worry about the weight of the battery disturbing your balance.
After switching from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries, the battery packs on the electric bike have reduced size and increased power, and they have much better performance.
- Motor
The electric fat tire bike motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy, which can take you further without breaking a sweat.
You can ride an e-bike using the pedal assist function, which allows you to pedal with less effort but move faster. If you get tired after riding for a while, just use the grip throttle or thumb throttle to keep going.
- PAS sensor and Throttle
PAS sensors can measure speed or torque. Speed sensors monitor your pedal speed while riding an electric bike 1000w. Torque sensors monitor how hard you pedal as you ride your e-bike.
The throttle of an e-bike is similar to that of a motorcycle or an electric scooter, where the throttle powers the motor and propels the bike forward.
The pedal assist mode and throttle mode allow you to enjoy a relaxing ride. When you're tired from a long time riding or going uphills, they can be extremely helpful.
- Controller and Display
An e-bike controller is a component that connects all the electrical components on the 1000w ebike together. It connects the battery, motor, sensor, display, throttle, brake, lights, and horn.
As the heart of an e-bike, the controller is a small computer that manages the overall functionality of the bike. The main function is to take input from all the e-bike components and determine what signal to return.
The e-bike display is normally located on the handlebar, along with operation buttons. It shows you important statistics and information about your bike ride.
For example, you can see the current riding speed, the riding distance, and the remaining battery volume; you can set the PAS level to control the riding speed or go to the settings to set up some parameters.
- Brake power-off system
Electric bike speed can easily go over 20 miles per hour. Whether using mechanic disc brakes or hydraulic disc brakes, the brake power-off system on an ebike is necessary.
When you squeeze the left or right brake lever, the brake caliper squeezes the brake pads against the surface of the brake rotor, in the meantime, the brake power-off system "cuts" the power to the motor, to stop the motor from running, it can effectively slow down the spinning of the rear wheel. Before the brake lever is released again, the motor is deactivated.
